A Bergen County man is facing charges for calling in a “hoax threat” against a local high school, authorities say.
The county prosecutor has charged 18-year-old Ramsey resident Luke Natoli with false public alarm, terroristic threats and harassment.
Authorities say Natoli called a Montvale high school on April 12 and claimed that he was going to bring a gun to a sports practice that afternoon.
School officials put the school on lockdown and took measures to ensure the safety of the students. Authorities say the threat turned out to be a hoax.
Police were able to trace the call and determined it was made by Natoli. They arrested him later in the day in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the threat was made against Ramsey High School.
