A Little Ferry mother admitted to killing her baby, according to investigators in Bergen County.

Officials with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office stated in court Friday that Hiralbahen Bhavsar told police officers that she did not want her 5-day-old baby, and then stabbed the infant girl to death.

NJ.com reports that according to a probable cause affidavit read in court, Bhavsar told officers, "I did it. I killed my baby. I did it."

Officials say that Bhavsar's husband told detectives she took the crying baby into their bedroom and refused to come out.

The 29-year-old mother is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon.

Bhavsar is being held in a psychiatric hospital.
