A teacher's aide is accused of physically assaulting a 5-year-old, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say that the Belvidere Police Department took the report on Feb. 7. They say that teacher's aide Philip Carlton assaulted the child.

Officials did not provide information on where or when the assault occurred.

Carlton was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
