The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office says that three juveniles have been charged in connection to a deadly robbery of a taxi driver in Franklin Township.
Authorities say that Franklin Township police were called to Rose Street and Sydney Place for reports of a shooting. It happened on May 11 just before 10 p.m.
Officials say that officers found 57-year-old Kofi Addo suffering from a gunshot wound. The taxi he was driving had crashed into a parked vehicle in the driveway of a home on Sydney Place. Addo was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.
Police identified a 14-year-old and two 13-year-olds as suspects in the shooting. They say that Addo picked up the teens as a fare and that he was shot while inside the taxi. Authorities say that the teens planned on robbing Addo and that one of the teens shot him.
The 14-year-old and one 13-year-old face first-degree murder and felony murder charges, among other charges. The other 13-year-old faces robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery charges. Their names were not released due to their ages.
