Pothole season has nearly arrived in New Jersey.

There’s now a push at the State House in Trenton to make the Department of Transportation more accountable when it comes to repairing potholes on state roads.

Legislators have proposed a bill that would have the DOT provide more information in their annual report to the Legislature.

Guide: Tips for avoiding car damage from potholes

The DOT would have to detail the number of potholes repaired on state roads, report on the cost of those repairs and provide information on the claims made by drivers after cars are damaged.

All of that information would need to be offered to the public at large on the Department of Transportation website if the law goes into effect.

The bill made it through a state Senate Transportation Committee and is headed to the full state Senate for a vote.
