The fire that broke out at a factory in Elizabeth before Christmas is still smoldering, with a haze of white smoke hovering overhead.
Neighbors say the smoke and odor is a health hazard. Officials tell News 12 New Jersey rolls of plastic are burning deep inside the block-long building and firefighters cannot safely get in due to unsafe conditions. Firefighters will not be able to get in until part of the building is demolished. News 12 New Jersey is told that the owner of the factory is in talks to hire a demolition company to tear down the unstable part of the building.
