Police: Woman charged after 3-year-old shoots himself with her gun

A woman is facing several charges after police say a 3-year-old boy took a gun out of her bag and shot himself.
The incident took place on Tuesday. Police say that Chante Odom, of Philadelphia, had the weapon in a bag and that the child took it out.

Odom was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of a handgun and unlawful possession of “dumdum” rounds.
A spokesperson for the Trenton Police Department says that Odom did not have a permit to carry or possess a handgun in either New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
The condition of the child was not immediately known. He is said to be at Cooper Medical Center in the intensive care unit.
