Police: Wall Township doctor accused of sexual assault against a child

Officials say the sexual abuse allegations are not connected to any of Cornelius Gallagher’s interactions with patients.

A doctor who lives in Wall Township has been accused of sexual assault against a child.
Cornelius Gallagher, 62, was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
Officials say that the alleged abuse began nearly 20 years ago and continued for more than a decade in Wall Township.
Officials say that Gallagher is a licensed pulmonologist affiliated with three hospitals across Monmouth County. They say that the sexual abuse allegations are not connected to any of his interactions with patients.
Gallagher was arrested last week. He is expected to have a detention hearing on Wednesday.
