East Brunswick police are on watch after a student told them that a man chased him after he got off the school bus Monday afternoon.
Authorities say that the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Willow Street near Arthur and New streets. The boy told police that a black man, around 30 years old, asked him his name and then chased the boy when the boy ran away.
Police say that the man was seen wearing a long-sleeve white shirt and blue jeans.
Officials have increased police patrols in the area, but neighbor say that they are concerned.
“We are wondering if it was an attempted robbery,” says parent Lisa Cannon. “We know a lot of these students have cellphones and they are expensive.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the East Brunswick Police Department at 732-390-6990. Anonymous confidential tips are accepted by dialing 732-432-8477 or by emailing tips@ebpd.net.
