Grand Central Station stabbing suspect shot by police dies

A stabbing suspect shot and critically injured by police at Grand Central Station was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to officials.
The incident began when officers responded to an ongoing assault around 9:40 a.m.
Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old Anthony Griffin wielding a knife. One officer then discharged his weapon.
Police found three victims with stab wounds at the scene.
The first was an 84-year-old man slashed on the 7-train platform. Authorities say he suffered significant lacerations to his head and face.
The second victim was a 65-year-old man on the 4,5,6 train platform. He suffered similar injuries and an open skull fracture.
The final victim, a 70-year-old woman, suffered laceration to her shoulder.
All three were hospitalized in stable condition, according to authorities.
Griffin was initially hospitalized in critical condition. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch later confirmed during a press conference that he died.
Investigators say a knife was recovered at the scene. Police were also able to determine via surveillance cameras that Griffin entered the subway station in Queens at the Vernon Street station.
Police say the investigation is ongoing. Notify NYC has also advised commuters of delayed service in the area.
