The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is looking for a man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a mother of two.
Milciades Oviedo, 74, has been charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death.
Authorities say Oviedo was driving the vehicle that struck 28-year-old Sierra Fisher in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Route 70 in Toms River.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. on Oct. 23. Fisher’s family tells News 12 New Jersey that she was stranded on the roadway after being out that night. Fisher was trying to get an Uber and was walking on the shoulder of Route 70 when she was struck.
A witness told police that the driver that struck Fisher got out of his car, looked at her and then drove off on Route 70 toward Lakewood.
Authorities were able to locate the vehicle they believed was involved in the crash in Elizabeth and identified the driver as Oviedo.
Fisher was a mother of two children, a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old. She had been working as a certified medical assistant.
Memorial services are expected to take place on Nov. 1.
Anyone who may have information about Oviedo’s whereabouts is asked to call the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office at 732-929-2027 or the Toms River Township Police Detective Bureau at 732-349-0150.
