Police in Edison are searching for a potential suspect in a road rage incident.

Police say a 17-year-old boy was traveling Sunday on Route 287 and entered U.S. Route 1 southbound in Edison when he stopped at a red light at Old Post Road.

Police say the teen stated a black SUV pulled up next to him and the driver put the window down and looked at him before his window exploded. They say the SUV fled the scene. After the incident, the teen contacted Edison police.

An investigation revealed a single gunshot was detected and a bullet was embedded in the driver’s door near the door handle, police say.
