Police said they are searching for missing Rutgers student Morty Wortman at Colliers Mill – a heavily wooded nature preserve partially in Jackson Township.
The student has been missing for the past two weeks.
There were multiple law enforcement divisions involved in Saturday's search. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is the lead agency on the investigation, but the New Jersey State Police, Jackson Police Department and Manchester Police provided assistance.
The Collier Mills nature preserve covers over 12,000 acres.
The Jackson Police Department posted on Facebook. "There will be heavy law enforcement activity in the area of Toms River Road."
News 12 has reported that the 22-year-old senior was commuting to school for classes. His brother, Ivan Marks, said Morty’s car was discovered in the parking lot of the Regional Day School in Jackson on Nov. 21.
Ivan Marks says that at 10:30 p.m. the night he was last seen. Morty was spotted on surveillance camera getting into a car with a friend at that school in Jackson.
Ivan says that friend, not yet identified by police, hasn’t helped find his missing brother.
This is a developing story.
