Sayreville officer shoots dog during attack on 3 family members
Police responded to the family’s home after a 911 caller reported three people were being attacked by the family dog.

Sayreville police shot a dog that was attacking multiple members of its family Saturday night, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police were called to MacArthur Avenue at about 7:22 p.m. after receiving a 911 distress call. The caller reported that his girlfriend, stepfather and mother were being attacked by the family dog.
“Upon their arrival, officers shot the dog to prevent further attack,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
The caller’s 20-year-old girlfriend, 53-year-old mother and 43-year-old stepfather were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment of their injuries. All were reported to be in stable condition.
No additional information about the attack was released. The prosecutor’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
