Police are investigating a double shooting Wednesday in East Orange.
According to police, the victim, 24-year-old Hassan Miller, was shot while driving a cab for the Eagle Taxi Company. Authorities say the cab was found on Davis Place with Miller dead behind the wheel. Another victim was also found in the cab. Police have little information about the second victim?s injuries.
Miller is the son of Orange Councilman Hassan Abdul Rasheed. The victim graduated from Orange High School and played football there.
"I just wish he didn't have to go the way he did and I hope he didn't suffer. I hope it was just quick,? Theresa Miller, the victim?s mother, says.
Police have yet to determine if the shooter was inside the cab.
The owner of Eagle Taxi, Raymond Griffiths, says Hassan was not supposed to be working during the early morning hours.
"I tell him that he must not operate after his shift because anything can happen we don't have any correspondence after we shut down the base at night. The dispatch has gone home,? says Griffiths.
Griffiths says he's been in business since 1988 and never had a problem before.
