Police in Sparta say a pickup truck towing an excavator on a flatbed lost control Tuesday night and crashed into two cars and a tire store.
The crash happened around 9 p.m.
Police say a black pickup truck towing an excavator on a flatbed was traveling down Glen Road toward Main Street.
The driver, identified as Luciano Viera Dos Santos, 28, of North Arlington, stated his brakes failed and he crossed Main Street, striking two parked vehicles. The flatbed flipped and struck the façade of Mavis Tire. The excavator flipped over in the parking lot.
The Sparta Building Department was notified to check the damage to the building. The traffic bureau is investigating the accident before issuing any summonses or violations.
Vehicle and equipment involved in the accident were towed and impounded.
There were no injuries to report.
