The Nutley Police Department has cracked the case of the mysterious headstone that was found at a New Jersey Transit bus terminal earlier this month.
The stone, which beared the name of 8-year-old Max Ferreira, actually belonged to a Rottweiler.
Nutley detectives matched the records at a local animal hospital to confirm the name on the stone was that of a dog that belonged to a former Newark resident who died in 2005.
It is still unclear how exactly Max's headstone came to appear at the bus terminal.
