Police: Mother, son accused of illegally distributing marijuana products

A mother and her son have been accused of illegally distributing marijuana and THC-related products in Ocean County.

Officials say Ellen Carlino, 74, and her son Scott Carlino, 52, used two homes and their Toms River business EarthE CBD to store and sell large quantities of the items.

Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant and found 70 pounds of marijuana, 1,500 pounds of THC products, a 9 mm handgun and about $390,000 in cash. Detectives also seized $217,000 from bank accounts belonging to Scott Carlino.

Scott Carlino faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana in a quantity greater than 25 pounds with intent to distribute, maintaining or operating a controlled dangerous substance facility and possession of a weapon.

Ellen Carlino was charged with conspiracy to commit financial facilitation.
