A Connecticut man is hospitalized after police say he carjacked a Mercedes and stole a police cruiser in northern New Jersey.
It all began around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Englewood Cliffs as 22-year-old Sereymanta Kong was lying in a street. Police say a woman stopped her car and called for help for the man.
Police say Kong got up and stole the woman's Mercedes, forcing her two kids from the car.
Police gave chase through several towns before officers got out to corral the man. Authorities say Kong got into a struggle with officers and somehow was able to steal a police cruiser.
The chase went through several more towns before ending in Paramus.
Police say at least five officers were injured.
It's unclear if Kong has a lawyer.
