Police say a man remains missing after two machete-wielding men hijacked a tractor-trailer Tuesday night in Ridgefield Park.
Police say the hijackers approached the truck parked at a trucking facility on the Bergen Turnpike around 5:20 p.m. The driver, who ultimately escaped, told police he was tied up and put in the sleeping compartment while his co-worker was put in the trailer with one of the other hijackers.
Police say after the hijacker drove away, the truck driver managed to jump out of the cab near the George Washington Bridge.
The truck was discovered empty in Leonia hours later. The suspects are on the loose. Anyone with information is asked to call Ridgefield Park police at 201-641-6400.
