A Lakewood man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly stabbed another person and punched a police officer.
Lakewood police say that the attack at the Lakewood Town Hall appears to be random.
Authorities say the assault happened at the municipal building around 11 a.m. Thursday. Officials say the victim was stabbed, and officers who arrived at the scene on the second floor found 47-year-old Reginald Patillo "acting disorderly."
When police questioned Patillo, they say he stood up and punched an officer in the eye without warning. He was then taken into custody, and a knife was recovered from his waistband.
The stabbing victim was being treated at a hospital for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Patillo was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
