A Medford Township man was assaulted with grizzly bear spray during a robbery, according to township police.

Authorities say the incident happened on Sept. 19 around 10:20 p.m. on Tuckerton Road.

Police were responding to reports of a man with difficulty breathing, but they found out he was the victim of a robbery.

Authorities say a man dressed in black clothing and a mask sprayed the victim with the repellent and stole his wallet and phone.

The victim was treated for chemical irritant exposure and abrasions on his head, elbows and knees.
