Police: K-9 alerts officers to loaded gun and suspected drugs
K-9 Ajax responded and indicated the presence of narcotics, according to police.

A Waterford Works man and a Bridgeton woman were arrested early Friday after police said officers found suspected drugs and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in Gloucester County.
Washington Township police said officers were patrolling at about 2:30 a.m. when a vehicle was seen leaving the rear of a Home Depot. Police pulled the vehicle over on Route 42 near Linden Transmission.
Police said the driver told officers he was dumpster diving. K-9 Ajax responded and indicated the presence of narcotics, according to police.
During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, multiple prescription medications and a loaded Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun concealed under the passenger seat, police said.
The driver, from Waterford Works, and the passenger, from Bridgeton, were charged with weapons and narcotics offenses. Police said both were lodged in the county jail pending court proceedings.
