Police are investigating the death of a beloved custodian whose body was found in a Camden charter school Wednesday morning.
The body of the maintenance worker, described only as a Hispanic female, was discovered prior to the start of the school day at Mastery High School of Camden, according to the Camden County Police Department. The worker's name, age and cause of death have not yet been released. Authorities say the woman's body is in the custody of the medical examiner.
"The death did not involve a student or teacher from the building," police said in a statement.
Camden County police confirmed that the woman was a well-liked member of the maintenance staff at Mastery - a school of about 850 high school students on Erie Street in Camden.
Police said more information will be made available in the coming days. News 12 has reached out to the CEO of Mastery schools but has not received a response.
