Newark police are searching for two suspects who allegedly shot at police who stopped them from robbing someone.
Authorities say that the officers were not hurt when the shots rang out on Cedar Street around 6:30 p.m. Friday. The officers had stopped the suspects during an armed robbery and the suspects in turn fired at police and then fled.
Police shut down several blocks from Broad Street and Central Avenue to Market Street while they looked for the suspects. Police believe that those suspects escaped in a gold or tan colored Jeep Cherokee or Liberty.
The roads were reopened by around 9 p.m. but police did not locate the suspects.
Anyone who may have any information about the incident is asked to contact Newark police.
