Thieves burglarized a Morris County gun shop, getting away with an unknown number of firearms, according to the police.
The theft happened at FSS Armory on Route 46 in the Pine Brook section of Montville. Police say the thefts happened around 1 a.m. or 1:30 a.m. Friday. But they say the crime wasn’t discovered until several hours later.
It was unclear how many guns or ammunition were stolen. Staff at the shop are doing an inventory of their stock and police are reviewing security camera footage.
“When guns are out on the street it is always a concern for us,” says Montville Police Chief Andrew Caggiano. "As far as the residents of Montville, I don't have a concern that [the guns] are here. But we'll continue our investigation and see where that leads us."
Police have not said how the burglars got into the shop.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact Montville police.
