During an investigation into a Pequannock break-in, police stumbled on a squatter living in a neighbor?s detached garage.
While questioning neighbors about landscapers during their investigation, police say they found 50-year-old Michael Beam living without permission in a garage. The 91-year-old homeowner says Beam is her handyman.
Police say Beam had been staying in the garage for some time. Detectives found large quantities of feces, a tub of urine, food wrappers, clothes and a blanket in the garage.
Authorities say Beam admitted to staying in the garage without permission. He faces a charge of criminal trespassing. He was released pending an appearance in municipal court.
