A police chase that started in Howell ended all the way at the Canadian border.

Authorities say Lakewood resident Josef Bartol was seen driving erratically going northbound on Route 9.

A Howell officer chased Bartol through Freehold, Manalapan, Marlboro, Old Bridge and eventually to the parkway.

The officer had to eventually give up when his siren stopped working.

The suspect was captured several hours later by Canadian police when he allegedly rammed through a border checkpoint and was arrested.

Bartol will be turned over to American authorities.
