The Franklin Borough police have arrested a woman accused of swindling people out of thousands of dollars by pretending to sell tickets to New York Jets and Giants games.
Police say Alicia Pallozzi advertised on social media that she was selling ticket packages to Jets and Giants games at MetLife Stadium.
Police say that there were several victims who were cheated out of money.
Police say Pallozzi cheated other victims using different scams. One victim reported that after the death of her young sister, Pallozzi allegedly started a GoFundMe account, and subsequently took thousands of dollars, which was supposed to be given to the victim's family for funeral expenses.
Pallozzi was arrested in Franklin Borough near police headquarters. She was traveling from Maryland to New Jersey at the time of her arrest. She was taken to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail and was charged with theft by deception.
Police say that GoFundMe has contacted the victim who was scammed and the company will donate the amount of money lost to them.
Investigators are also meeting with the NFL to discuss security measures to prevent these types of scams.
Anyone who thinks they may have been cheated by Pallozzi is urged to contact Franklin Borough police at 973-827-7700.
