Police in two New Jersey towns are investigating a series of overnight car break-ins. Authorities say nine luxury cars were targeted at four hotels in Fairfield and Parisppany. They say the thieves stole similar items from each vehicle, particularly sunglasses, clothing and GPS systems. However, Fairfield police say they believe they almost caught the suspected thieves in the act. Officers spotted a 2010 BMW at one of the hotels, and determined that it had been stolen earlier in the day. A chase ensued along Route 46, but was called off when police say the suspect reached 100 mph. Police are now reviewing hotel security video.
