Police say a 71-year-old man was charged recently for a fatal hit-and-run in Jersey City from October 2023.

Mohammad Ali left the scene a fatal accident in the area of Fairview Avenue and Monticello Avenue after striking 85-year-old Mumtaz Chaudhry with his vehicle, according to police.

Chaudhry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ali was arrested and released pending his first court appearance, which is scheduled for Feb.13.
