Police say a 2-year-old was struck and killed as a truck backed up in Franklin Township early Saturday morning.

They say a Somerset man was backing his pick-up truck to leave a home when the child was hit around 8:45 a.m.

Officers began life saving measures before EMS personal took over.

The child was sent to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the situation is under investigation.
