Authorities say five schools in central New Jersey were locked down after two men fled from a highway crash, and they were later arrested after taking a taxi to the beach.
Tinton Falls police Lt. Kyle Pierson told the Asbury Park Press that five borough schools were locked down for an hour Thursday after the men fled after a collision on the Garden State Parkway.
Officers with K9 dogs set up a perimeter around the scene of the crash as the schools were locked down.
Pierson says police then learned that the men had called a cab and police were waiting for them at Jenkinson's Pavilion in Point Pleasant Beach when they arrived.
Their names and the charges they face weren't immediately available.
