A 13-year-old boy shot in the chest in Newark is in stable condition, according to police.
The shooting happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday near Bragaw Avenue School on Leslie Street near the East Orange border. The incident triggered a lockdown at the school.
East Orange police tell News 12 it appears that the teen was attempting to break into a car when he was shot.
The boy was found on Grand Avenue. Police say that he may have run to the location after being injured.
There is no word on if any arrests have been made.
