A puppy was stolen over the weekend from a pet adoption fair in Paramus.
The 9-week-old Chihuahua was taken from an event held at the Route 16 Pet Smart organized by Angels for Animals Rescue. The pup, named Kisses, was last seen sitting in its cage waiting to be adopted.
"We don't know where it went and if it's gonna be cared for," says volunteer Denise Stankiewicz.
The volunteers say their worries for the dog are even greater due to a heart murmur the puppy has, which they say puts the animal at risk for a heart attack. The dog's condition can be treated for with immediate veterinary assistance, according to the group.
