Students and staff at Perth Amboy High School will soon have to pass through metal detectors before entering the building.
Parents and teachers received an automated call on Friday about the new security measure.
The metal detectors will be ready for use on April 17.
“All staff and students are required to pass through the metal detectors in order to ensure a safe entrance. Thank you for your support,” the message stated.
Teachers and students have called for increased security in the district since a middle school student was stabbed by another preteen on his way home from school in February.
