A pedestrian was struck and killed in Ocean Township, Monmouth County prosecutors announced Wednesday.

They say a 68-year-old man was trying to cross West Park Avenue when he was struck Tuesday by a Dodge Grand Caravan. The minivan was driven by a 53-year-old man who was entering the center lane of traffic when the crash took place, according to prosecutors.

Officials say the driver stayed at the scene. No charges or summonses have been issued.

The male pedestrian was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact MCPO Detective Kristian DeVito at 800-533-7443 or Ocean Township Police Department Officer Ryan Krug at 732-531-1800.
