Bella, a current resident of Associated Humane Societies Newark shelter, is hoping to get a furever home for the holidays.
At almost 7 years old, this gentle pup is considered a "senior dog." She was surrendered when her previous family found themselves having housing difficulties.
According to volunteers, Bella is calm, affectionate and has previously lived with other dogs and cats, as well as children. She's spayed, housebroken and does really well during car rides.
This month, AHS Newark is celebrating National Senior Pet Awareness Month, and it is hoping Bella and dogs like her will be able to find homes as more people learn about the benefits of having a senior dog.
In addition, AHS is running an adoption promo and pet food drive for Thanksgiving. According to the shelter, anyone who donated pet food will be able to get a 50% discount on their adoption fees.
Anyone interested in meeting and possibly adoption Bella can visit the shelter's website at
