Found as a lost dog in Newark, Bear is ready to make friends and find his furever family.
Olivia Gonzalez, social media manager for Associated Humane Societies in Newark says this 2-year-old makes friends everywhere he goes.
"Bear is dog friendly, kid approved and frequent flyer of our newest program Adventure Tails, a dog day out program that invites the public to take a shelter dog out for the day," Gonzalez said.
Bear has been at the shelter since June 13, and volunteers say he has a sweet disposition. He loves to play and loves treats and affection.
According to volunteers, there are currently eight dogs at the shelter that may have to be euthanized if they're not adopted by next week. AHS says this is due to extreme overcrowding. The shelter takes in about 10 dogs a day, many of which are surrenders or strays. However, staffers say that on average, only 10 dogs are adopted per week.
