Residents along Maple Street in Chatham are fed up with local students parking outside their houses.
The disgruntled residents say Chatham High School drivers who can't get a spot in the parking lot forgo an overflow lot and ditch their vehicles in front of neighboring homes. Residents say the parked cars limit access to mailboxes, interrupt traffic flow on an already narrow street and pose safety hazards for younger children in the area.
"We're far more convenient for them ? right across the street from the high school," says Ann Tufariello.
Maple Street residents met with town officials last Thursday in an effort to ban parking on the street until 4 p.m. on weekday afternoons. No decision has yet been made regarding the street.
