Paterson schools will open on Monday, September 10 after being closed for fire code violations.
Crews had a lot of ground to cover Saturday to prepare for the schools? reopening. The district is worried about three specialized academies that rent space at the Main Street Mall possibly not being open Monday, but Superintendent Dr. Michael Glascoe says he is trying to make sure they will be. He says if the schools are not open, students will have classes at Silk City Academy.
Two fires in the district swept through buildings last year. This year teachers were told to get rid of extension cords, use surge protections and only have basic electric equipment in their rooms.
The superintendent says the district will call families with children at the three specialized academies Sunday to let them know where their classes will be held.
