Seven Paterson schools were under a “shelter in place” order for the second time in two days due to threats circulated on social media.
School officials say that the post was sent among students stating that someone was going to “shoot up” Public School 12 Thursday morning.
"Student safety, staff safety is a high priority…There will be a police presence at those schools that have been identified and we want to ensure to the parents that your children will be safe,” Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh said.
The supposed threat follows several others posted on social media earlier this week that led to increased security at Paterson schools and several other schools across New Jersey, including in Elizabeth.
Police are investigating the origin of the social media posts.
