A fire ravaged a Passaic County home Christmas Eve around 6 p.m., fire officials say.
Passaic Deputy Chief Christopher Szczygiel says it took 50 firefighters nearly two hours to extinguish the flames engulfing the Victorian-style High Street home. Police say the homeowner and her four daughters were not home at the time of the blaze.
Friends and family members tried to salvage the few precious personal items they could retrieve from the gutted home. Fire officials say the 80-year-old Victorian has been burned beyond repair and will likely be condemned.
