Officials in Brielle say a "catastrophic event" involving the town's water tower may affect water service for residents.
The Brielle Office of Emergency Management says that a storage tank in the top of the Old Bridge Water Tower, located near Old Bridge and Morningstar roads, collapsed into the main water tank.
Strong winds are preventing crews from climbing to the top of the tower to inspect the damage.
Officials say that Brielle residents may experience slightly lower water pressure while repairs are being made.
The collapse does not seem to have affected the water quality, and no boil water advisory was put into place.
Any resident with any questions or issues concerning their water is urged to contact the town.
