A school board meeting in Middletown got heated after the superintendent proposed closing three schools in the district.

However, parents were also upset that many could not get into the meeting because the crowds were too large.

Many were forced to stand outside, trying to hear what was being discussed.

The superintendent explained to parents that the district is in a deficit and can't afford to continue with 16 buildings in operation.

To save money and jobs, she is recommending that Leonardo Elementary and Navesink Elementary school students move into Bayshore Middle School and Bayshore students move to Thorne or Thompson Middle School.

Many parents believe that will lead to overcrowding.

The next school board meeting is scheduled for April 30.
