Prosecutors: Palisades Park police officer arrested for assaulting woman multiple times, child endangerment

Prosecutors say David Chun threatened and assaulted a woman on several occasions in Hasbrouck Heights and put two children in danger.

A Palisades Park police officer was arrested and charged for assaulting a woman and endangering the welfare of two young children, Bergen County prosecutors announced on Tuesday.
According to prosecutors, 42-year-old David Chun, of South Hackensack, was arrested after an investigation into years of abuse that went from 2019 to 2023. That investigation found Chun threatened and assaulted a woman on several occasions in Hasbrouck Heights and put two children in danger.
Chun was charged Monday with:
  • five counts of second-degree aggravated assault
  • one count of second-degree aggravated assault
  • one count of third-degree aggravated assault
  • one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault
  • seven counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child
  • one count of third-degree terroristic threats
  • one count of third-degree terroristic threats
  • one count of criminal mischief, a disorderly persons offense
It's unclear if Chun is still employed by the Palisades Park Police Department.
He was arrested in Paramus and taken to Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
