A man lost control of his car in a Palisade Park parking lot Tuesday and critically injured two women, police say.

The accident happened in the ShopRite supermarket parking lot off Central Avenue. Witnesses say the elderly man drove into the lot frantically honking his horn. They say the car struck two elderly women before slamming into a pillar.

The driver told police his gas pedal was stuck.

The driver suffered head injuries when his car struck the pillar. The women are in critical condition with severe leg injuries.
