The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is in its 90th year.
In the earlier years, organizers say the big highlight was getting live animals from the zoo on the floats. There's obviously no need for that now. The floats now feature actual waterfalls, merry-go-rounds and elaborate bells and whistles.
With the presidential election leaving the country so divided, organizers say, we really need this.
"Show the rest of the world what it can be to have freedom, democracy, celebration, holiday tradition and people coming together in that feeling of celebration," says John Piper, vice president and creative director of Macy's Parade Studio.
There are four new floats this year: the alpha spirit, the Girl Scouts building a better world, deck the halls and the fun house.
