Open enrollment for health insurance started Sunday on New Jersey's new online marketplace.
New state residents without health insurance or residents who had previously signed up for a health care plan through the old website can now sign up for health insurance through Get Covered New Jersey.
Open enrollment through the system runs through Jan. 31, but residents must be enrolled by Dec. 31 in order to avoid coverage gaps.
The state's new marketplace was established by Gov. Phil Murphy on June 28, 2019.
Residents can also apply for financial help for health insurance on the website.
The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance operated Get Covered NJ. Local agents and brokers are available to help with the sign-up process for anyone in need.
