News 12 Meteorologist Dave Curren visited Red Bank Friday for its annual town holiday lighting.
News 12 has been present at the borough's tree lighting for the past seven years. In 2015, despite bitter cold, 8,000 people attended.
Councilman Michael Whelan says Red Bank will also be observing Small Business Saturday following Black Friday's kickoff to the holiday shopping season.
"Shop local," Whelan says. "It's amazing for the local economy. It's amazing for the community."
After the tree is lit, "there's no more magical place in Monmouth County or the state than the downtown of Red Bank," Whelan says.
The borough will also be offering more than two weeks of free parking for the holidays.
